It’s an auspicious date for sport in Sussex. For once Friday 13th brought lots of luck for the 15 deserving winners of the Sussex Sports Awards 2009!

Held in the Oxford Suite at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from 7:00pm, the evening was hosted by Derek Redmond, one of GB’s greatest 400m runners ever. Our World Gold Medalist Master of Ceremonies was probably one of the most unlucky yet determined athletes ever, when famously during the Barcelona Olympics his hamstring snapped during the semi finals. Derek, who was a medal favorite, struggled to his feet and hobbled the remaining 250 meters with his father in a scene that has become one of the most enduring in modern Olympic history.

Voting now closed for the ‘Rix & Kay Solicitors Club of the Year’ at the Sussex Sports Awards 2009!

Following on from last year’s success with over 1000 votes for the Sports Personality and the Young Sports Personality of the Year awards we opened up the ’Rix & Kay Solicitors Club of the Year’ to the public vote for the very first time! From Thursday 22 November to Tuesday 3 November (6pm), members of the public were invited to vote for the Sussex ‘Club of the Year’ 2009. We received over 800 votes for the category!

With record-breaking number of nominations this year, our judges have had a huge task on their hands! Thank you to all those who entered this year’s awards. SCSP Website Update!

The new-look SCSPT website is now fully operational after having experienced a number of unexpected technical problems. We worked closely with developers NixonMcInnes, to rectify the problems and took the opportunity to amend the design and layout of the site, following feedback from our users.
