Volunteering in Sport

The Sussex County Sports Partnership Trust offers information and advice to encourage and support sports volunteers. There are many voluntary sporting opportunities available across Sussex; Sports clubs are always looking for keen volunteers to help out as coaches, officials and administrators; or you could volunteer your time at one of the many sporting events we run each year.

How much time do you have to give? This is up to you!  Sports clubs may need volunteers to help out for an hour or two a week, whereas sports events could require volunteers for a whole day. Our aim is to find a volunteering opportunity that will fit in with your other commitments.

If you are interested in volunteering in sport, please complete and return the volunteer registration of interest form below.

Step into Sport

Step into Sport is a joint project funded by a consortium of Sport England, Youth Sport Trust and Sports Leaders UK and is run through the School Sport Partnerships. The purpose of Step into Sport is to increase the quantity, quality and diversity of young people engaged in leadership and volunteering, with consequent benefits to schools, clubs, the community and the young people themsleves.  The Step into Sport programme focuses on young people aged 11 to 19.

As part of the Step into Sport programme, each School Sports Partnership is responsible for running a Leadership Academy, which is a programme of sports and leadership training offered to selected students who are passionate about sports leadership and volunteering. Through the Step into Sport programme, these students are offered introductory sports specific qualifications, generic leadership training, and other developmental workshops. Communication links are established between the School Sports Partnerships and local clubs, aiming to encourage and sustain student involvement in sports leadership through quality volunteering placements. The Sussex County Sports Partnership provides assistance in the task of finding suitable volunteering opportunities for the students.
