2012 Olympic Games: 27 July - 12 August 2012
2012 Paralympic Games: 29 August - 9 September 2012
On a County Level…
The Sussex County Sports Partnership wishes to enthuse and encourage the counties communities to participate more and take advantage of additional opportunities made available as a result of 2012 business investment. Through our partners, we want to ensure a lasting legacy that truly benefits the communities of Sussex.
The 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games represent a huge opportunity for the Sussex people, communities and business. That’s why work has already started to prepare for the Games themselves and ensure a lasting legacy for the South East.
Sussex have two designated 2012 Coordinators based in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. These Officers aim to use the inspiration of London 2012, as a way to encourage and enthuse people to learn about culture, arts, education, tourism and business
In West Sussex, a countywide initiative - Ahead of the Game aims to achieve long-lasting benefits for the county, and to ensure West Sussex plays its full part in a successful 2012 celebration. To find out more, please visit: www.westsussex-aheadofthegame.com

On a Regional Level…
In order to realise the potential benefits from the Games and minimise any negative effects the South East established a regional coordinating group, now called the South East Partnership for the 2012 Games (SEP 2012). This group is chaired by Pam Alexander, Chief Executive SEEDA.
SEP is a partnership of six working groups of regional stakeholders that are in existence to maximise the benefits of the 2012 Games. Each of the working groups focus on particular areas of the 2012 Games landscape.
For more information about SEP and its activities, please contact Paddy Herlihy on padraigherlihy@seeda.co.uk.
South East Education, Skills, Employment for London 2012 (SEESEL)
SEESEL aims to ensure that the South East region has the skills necessary to maximise the employment and engagement opportunities provided by London 2012. This will mean inspiring young people, developing the workforce in key sectors and engaging employers and communities. The South East Education, Skills, Employment for London 2012 group (SEESEL) provides a vehicle to help South East stakeholders to respond to the challenges of London 2012 and, maybe even more importantly, capitalise on the potential of the Games to act as a catalyst to develop much needed skills and deliver a lasting cultural legacy for the region.
You can download the SEESEL action plan by clicking here. Please note it is a living document and is subject to change.
