This section of the website aims to highlight National, Regional and Local sources of funding for sport. Please be aware that the Sussex County Sports Partnership are not a funding body, however we do apply for funding to run programmes to increase sports opportunities in Sussex. These are included in the list below. The Sussex CSP are also here to provide advice and guidance for clubs or organisations who wish to submit funding applications.

New Grants aim to get more Disabled People Volunteering
Grants helping organisations to enable more disabled people to volunteer are available from today. Organisations can apply for grants between £250 and £5,000, which can be used to help overcome barriers that stop disabled people volunteering, such as specific equipment, a lack of suitable access and understanding of disability issues.

Sport England’s Funding
Sport England has published its funding strategy, setting out the investment programmes that will be available to organisations delivering grassroots sport from April 2009.
Sports clubs, voluntary and community organisations, local authorities and education establishments will be able to apply to open-access funding streams worth a maximum of £45 million per year. The Big Lottery Fund

Awards for All
Awards for All is a lottery grants scheme funding small, local, community based projects in the UK. Awards for All England offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them. Sportsmatch
The Sport England Sportsmatch programme increases investment in community sport by matching sponsorship money pound for pound. Sportsmatch is funded by Sport England to support the development of grassroots sport in England. For more information please click here: Sportsmatch
Arts Council England
The Arts Council will provide small grants through their existing ‘Grants for the arts’ programme, supporting awards between £1,000 and £100,000.
Heritage Lottery Fund
Small grants will be provided through the existing ‘Your Heritage’ (£3,000 to £50,000) and ‘Young Roots (£3,000 to £25,000) schemes.
Active Living Fund
Grants of up to £1,000 are available through the Kelloggs Active Living Fund for projects that remove the “barriers” which stop people being active. The fund is open to charities and other voluntary and community organisations as well as Schools for activities that directly lead to people taking part in sustained physical activity. UnLtd Sport Relief Awards (11-21 Year Olds)
UnLtd , the charity which supports social entrepreneurs provides grants of between £250 and £5,000 to young people to bring community cohesion and understanding through sport and being active. Applications can be submitted at any time. For more information please visit: www.unltd.org.uk
Match Funding Scheme for Volunteering (young people)
Match Funding Scheme for Volunteering provides grants to charities that match up to 100% of any new private sector investment for youth volunteering projects in England. The programme themes include Health and well being. For more information please visit: www.wearev.com
Red Nose Days Funding Programme
Comic Relief grants are still provided forits small grants scheme (under £5,000). Registered charities as well as constituted voluntary and community groups can apply for grants of less than £5,000. For more information please visit: www.comicrelief.com
Young People’s Fund 2
Voluntary and community sector organisations can apply for grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 for up to 5 years for projects that involve young people (aged 10 - 18 or up to the age of 25 if they are finding the change to independent living difficult. Football Foundation
Grants are available for FA affiliated club U16 teams and can be used for the purchase of kit,the maximum award is £300. Funding will also be targeted on community and education initiatives, including study support centres, community coaching schemes and social inclusion projects. Peter Harrison Foundation
Supports sports projects which provide opportunities for disabled people,or those who are disadvantaged to fulfil their potential. Grants range from £500-£5000. For more information please visit: www.peterharrisonfoundation.org
The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme
The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £1,000 and £4,000. The funding is directed towards practical benefits, such as equipment and resources for projects that directly benefit children, the elderly and people with disabilities, living in the local communities around Tesco stores. Paul Hamlyn Foundation: Open Grant Scheme, Learning Futures and Learning Away
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is an independent grant making body which funds organisations whose charitable activities help people to realise their potential and a better quality of life.

Chelsea Building Society Charitable Foundation
Chelsea Building Society Charitable Foundation makes grants to a variety of charitable causes whose aim is to relieve suffering and disadvantage within their local community.
Grant size: between £250 to £5,000. Next closing date for applications: 2nd April 2009. Eligibility: To be eligible for funding you must be a UK based registered charity within a 10 mile radius of an office of the Chelsea Building Society Group.

East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust
Grants of up to £500 are available for projects and activities that promote good health and well-being and support the government’s health priorities: healthy eating, encouraging physical activity, mental health and well being, tackling health inequalities. Communitiy Amatuer Sports Club (Inland Revenue)
Sports clubs play a valuable role in their communities. The CASC scheme recognises this important role by distinguishing between clubs and businesses for rates and tax purposes, ensuring money is kept in sports clubs.

The Torch Trophy Trust
The Torch Trophy Trust is a charitable organisation whos main aim is to encourgae voluntary work in sport and other related outdoor activities within local communities. The aim of the bursary is to help volunteers to improve their skills as coaches or officials. The bursary provideds financial support for those wishing to undertake training. Biffa Awards
Biffa Awards provide grant aid for community organisations in areas within a limited radius of a landfill site. They will accept grant applications for projects that provide or improve community spaces, cultural facilities and places for outdoor recreation. County Playing Fields Association (CPFAs)

The Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation is the charity that campaigns to make physical activity an integral part of life for women and girls in the UK, where physical activity is defined as sport and exercise. The Joseph Strong Frazer Trust

Ladbrokes in the Community Charitable Trust
