Sport Unlimited

What is Sport Unlimited?

Sport Unlimited is a nationwide initiative aiming to get more children and young people taking part in sport and physical activity, outside of school. Government funding is cascaded from Sport England to local communities via the County Sports Partnerships network.

The programme is targeted at ’semi sporty’ young people who have some interest in sport, but aren’t particularly involved within the community or local sports club. It will engage them in an extra 1-2 hours a week (for 8 - 10 weeks) of high quality, sport and physical actvity.

Clubs, schools and other organisations across Sussex can bid for the funding to run termly programmes of activity, out of school hours. These projects are designed to inspire youngsters for long term participation in sport, through local clubs and community activity.

The Sport Unlimited programme is running for three years. We are currently in Year 2 of the programme, which runs from April 2009 - March 2010. Each year is split into three terms as follows: Summer term (April - July), Autumn term (September - December) and Spring term (January - March).
