- Save Money …? Walking, cycling and catching the bus could also save £100’s of pounds on expensive fuel costs and additional gym memberships!
- Relax and be happy…? Of course it’s important to relax! Being active and more sustainable in your travel can help you to relax, unwind and even smile!
Modern life has made things much more comfortable for us - so comfortable, in fact, that most of us spend too long sitting down. Whether we are working at our desks, watching TV, driving to work, sat in a bar, restaurant or pub or at the cinema we are all sat down far too much.
Living in such a fast-paced world can also make it hard to eat healthy food and get enough exercise. As a result, we can end up with too much fat in our bodies. A build up of fat can lead to preventable illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. So if children get into the habit of eating too much fat, and not being active enough, it can lead to an increase in the risk of health problems as adults.
So how serious a problem is this?
According to the government’s Foresight report, if we carry on as we are, 9 out of 10 of our kids will grow up to have dangerous amounts of fat in their bodies. Yet only about one in ten parents recognise that their child is overweight or obese.
We’re supporting Change4Life
That’s why the Sussex County Sports Partnership Trust is supporting Change4Life. It’s a nationwide movement which aims to help us all, but especially our kids, eat well, move more and live longer.

Change4Life isn’t about telling families what to do. It’s about providing parents with lots of tips and ideas so that they can choose the ways that will work best for their family.
