Shooting

Shooting is a sport that requires a high level of accuracy, speed and concentration and can be performed with a number of different firearms and airguns. It is estimated that over 300 thousand people shoot in the United Kingdom. Shooting events are categorised by the type of firearm used or target being used. There are three different Olympic disciplines, shotgun, rifle and pistol, each with five different events for men and women to compete in.

Rifle and Pistol events take place over 10m and 25m distances and for the men 50m. Whilst the Shotgun discipline involves shooting at a moving target and is made up of three different types of competition, skeet, trap and double trap.
