A New Skate Park Facility for Hastings and St. Leonards

At least £165,000 has been earmarked to create a new state of the art skate park for the young people of Hastings and St. Leonards.

Some £50,000 from the Government Play Pathfinder scheme, allocated by East Sussex County Council, and £100,000 previously pledged by Hastings Borough Council and set aside until additional funding could be found. The budget also includes a generous donation of £15,000 from the Boyley Trust Fund, who have organised numerous fund raising events over the past 7 years.

Councillor Peter Finch, lead member for Community Well-being, said, “This is something we have wanted to do for some time. The young people have been very patient, and now with funding behind us, we are keen to make their aspirations reality.”

” We are fortunate to have such an established and vibrant skate park community who will be involved throughout this development process. We will be starting the consultation process for the project in May 2009 and I will ensure that the proactive young people of Hastings and St. Leonards will be at the centre of the design and development.”
